China National Fisheries Corporation (CNFC) is a state-owned enterprise established on October 24, 1984, under the China Agriculture Development Group Co., Ltd. It is a transnational enterprise specializing in distant-water ocean fisheries, with core operations including fishing, processing, and sales of sea products. The company also engages in labor services, export of relevant industries, and product trade. CNFC operates a large fleet of over 220 vessels, including bottom trawlers, long-liners, merchant carriers, and bunker service vessels, primarily in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. It has established aquatic product processing, warehousing, and supply bases both domestically and internationally, with products sold in Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asian countries. CNFC is recognized as a pioneer and major Chinese operator in distant-water fisheries, having sent the first Chinese fishing fleet to West African waters in 1985.
