Damage & Repair Demand
Marine casualties as actionable repair demand: what is damaged, where the vessel is, and the likely repair scope — assessed, not just reported. Covers collisions, groundings, fires, machinery and structural casualties across our sources.
Vessels currently seeking repair
Ordered by repair urgency. State is as of each vessel's last AIS observation, not real time. Analytical estimates over reported incident data — not surveys, asserting nothing about cause, fault or liability.

Recent casualties
Last 12 months, with damage assessment rather than bare classification. Confidence shown on every row; low-confidence rows are recent official records that arrive before damage detail does.

Casualty map
Incident positions from structured records. The concentration in US and NW-European waters is the honest shape of current coverage — see Coverage & methodology.
Which yards win casualty work
Demonstrated repair destinations, from tracked shipyard visits following a confirmed casualty (visits explained by a scheduled survey are excluded). The most defensible content on this page — observed, not claimed. Volume is early and grows with coverage.
Risk analytics
For charterers, insurers and P&I. Observed casualty frequency by flag, class society and vessel age band — normalised per exposure, with confidence intervals and minimum-sample thresholds so a small fleet never reads as “high risk” on one incident. Observed frequency only; never fault, negligence or liability.
Per-exposure risk rates are enterprise-gated — a raw count is not a rate, and we don't publish one without a defensible denominator.

Reporting lag: US Coast Guard ~5-week snapshot; UK MAIB months (investigation-driven); IMO GISIS months (flag-state submissions).
Geographic coverage
97.5% of positioned incidents are in US waters today — a real skew from our current sources (US Coast Guard + UK MAIB). Global coverage is widening through IMO GISIS ingest; until then, treat non-US coverage as partial.
Assessment completeness
20.5% of casualties carry a full damage assessment (specific damage location and scope); the rest are classified but lack the detail for a confident repair scope, and are marked as such. We never present a classification-only record as a full assessment.
What these figures are
Every severity, scope and dock-day figure is an analytical estimate produced by a deterministic model over reported incident data — not a survey. Nothing here asserts cause, fault, negligence or liability. Corrections and right-of-reply: contact us.
