The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is a government-owned entity and India's largest shipping company, established on October 2nd, 1961, through the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation. It operates and manages a diverse fleet of vessels, including bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, product tankers, container vessels, passenger-cum-cargo vessels, LPG carriers, and offshore supply vessels, servicing both national and international lines. SCI provides services in cargo transportation, offshore energy support, passenger shipping, break-bulk services, international container services, liquid/dry bulk services, and also mans and manages vessels for various government departments and organizations. Headquartered in Mumbai, India, SCI owns and operates approximately one-third of the Indian tonnage and has a significant global maritime presence. The company also offers ship management services and maritime professional training through its Maritime Training Institute in Mumbai.
