Damen Shipyards Group and Herman Sr. have formalized plans for the construction of a groundbreaking Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) 4916 through a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed on November 26 during the Offshore Energy exhibition in Amsterdam. The MPV 4916 is designed to merge the capabilities of Damen's Shoalbuster and Multi Cat series, offering unparalleled versatility in the workboat sector. Its innovative features include advanced positioning options such as spud poles, DP2, four-point mooring, and beaching capabilities, ensuring operational stability across diverse environments.

Equipped with a 16-meter beam, extensive deck space, and specialized equipment like a hydraulic A-frame and active heave compensated cranes, the vessel is poised to handle various offshore operations. It also features accommodations for 34 persons, adhering to stringent safety and comfort standards, including SPS code accreditation and MLC2006 compliance.Sustainability is integral to its design, with diesel-electric propulsion meeting IMO Tier III standards and provisions for future dual-fuel methanol engines and full-electric conversions. The MPV 4916 will support a range of offshore tasks, from cargo transport to cable laying, reinforcing its role as a next-generation vessel.
