PetroSA

PetroSA is South Africa’s national oil and gas company, formed in 2002 as part of the state-owned Central Energy Fund (CEF) and headquartered in Cape Town. It focuses on exploring and producing oil and natural gas—both domestically and internationally—and is especially known for operating one of the world’s largest gas-to-liquids (GTL) refineries in Mossel Bay, where offshore gas is converted into clean-burning synthetic fuels. PetroSA produces and markets a broad range of fuels and petrochemical products—including unleaded petrol, diesel, kerosene, propane, eco-fuels, and alcohols—servicing both local and international markets. Its mandate includes ensuring energy security for South Africa, stabilizing fuel supply, managing strategic reserves, and driving transformation in the energy sector—all while operating competitively and sustainably
