Tanker Aroyat Towed Through Bosphorus After Black Sea Attack

The vessel Aroyat, described as one of the victims of recent attacks in the Black Sea, was towed through the Bosphorus Strait toward the Sea of Marmara, according to footage released by Turkish news agency DHA. The video shows the ship under tow as it transited the strait, a key waterway connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean via the Sea of Marmara and the Dardanelles. No further details were provided regarding the extent of damage to the vessel, the cause of the attack, or the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Bosphorus remains a critical corridor for commercial shipping, including vessels linked to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has repeatedly disrupted maritime traffic in the Black Sea. Attacks on commercial and tanker vessels operating in or near the region have raised concerns among shipowners and insurers about the safety of transiting these waters. Authorities have not released additional information on the Aroyat's flag, ownership, or final destination following the tow operation. The passage of damaged vessels through the Bosphorus under tow has become a recurring event amid heightened maritime risk in the Black Sea since the escalation of hostilities between the two countries.
