Offshore Supply Vessel ACE DISCOVERER Detained at Onne

The offshore supply vessel ACE DISCOVERER, flagged in Cyprus, was detained following a Port State Control inspection under the Abuja MOU at the port of Onne. The inspection, conducted on 23 Oct 2026, recorded six deficiencies in total. According to the detention report, none of the six deficiencies identified were classified as detainable on their own. Despite this, the vessel was detained following the inspection, in line with Port State Control procedures that allow authorities to hold a vessel based on the cumulative assessment of its condition and compliance. The ACE DISCOVERER, with IMO number 9741281, has a gross tonnage of 3,644 and a deadweight of 4,215 tonnes, placing it among smaller vessels in the offshore supply category typically used to service oil and gas platforms. The Abuja MOU, which oversees Port State Control inspections across West and Central African ports, including Onne in Nigeria, works to ensure that foreign-flagged vessels calling at member ports meet international safety, labour and environmental standards. No further details on the nature of the deficiencies or the conditions required for the vessel's release have been disclosed. The vessel remains under detention pending resolution of the issues identified during the inspection.
