General Cargo Ship ANTEPLI Detained in Alexandria

The Tanzania-flagged general cargo vessel ANTEPLI (IMO 8020123) was detained at the Egyptian port of Alexandria following a Port State Control inspection conducted on 07 Oct 2026, according to a report issued under the Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding (Med MoU). Inspectors recorded a total of 21 deficiencies aboard the 1,512 gross tonnage multipurpose carrier, of which 12 were classified as detainable, prompting authorities to hold the vessel in port until the issues are rectified. The specific nature of the deficiencies was not disclosed in the report. The ship is managed under the ISM Code by SOULMARINE LTD., which is listed as the responsible company for the vessel's safety management system. Port State Control regimes such as the Med MoU conduct inspections to verify compliance with international safety, pollution prevention, and crew welfare standards, with detention used as an enforcement measure when deficiencies are deemed serious enough to pose a risk to the ship, crew, or environment. No further details regarding the vessel's release timeline or the corrective actions required have been made public. The ANTEPLI will remain under detention in Alexandria pending resolution of the identified deficiencies and a follow-up inspection to confirm compliance before it is permitted to resume operations.
