Container Ship EGY SKY Detained at Constanta Port

The container vessel EGY SKY (IMO 9366483) was detained following a Port State Control inspection conducted on 03 Oct 2026 at the Romanian port of Constanta, under the Black Sea MOU regime. Inspectors recorded a total of 10 deficiencies during the examination of the Egyptian-flagged ship, though the report lists zero deficiencies formally classified as detainable. Despite this, the vessel was held in port following the inspection. EGY SKY has a gross tonnage of 10,308 and a deadweight of 12,574 tonnes. The ship is managed under the International Safety Management Code by Akkad Shipping (AK Ships), which serves as the vessel's ISM company and is responsible for addressing the issues identified by port state control officers before the ship can be released to resume commercial operations. Port State Control inspections are carried out to verify that foreign-flagged vessels calling at a port comply with international conventions covering safety, pollution prevention, and crew welfare standards. Detentions are typically imposed when deficiencies are assessed as posing a risk to the ship, its crew, or the environment, requiring rectification prior to departure. Further details on the specific nature of the deficiencies and the timeline for the vessel's release have not been disclosed.
