Russian Strike Hits Ukraine's Chornomorsk Port

Russian forces carried out a strike on the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk, according to a report from maritime monitoring channel The Sea In Arabic. The port, located on the Black Sea coast near Odesa, has been repeatedly targeted during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Chornomorsk is one of several Ukrainian Black Sea ports that have continued to handle grain and cargo shipments despite the war, operating under a maritime corridor established to allow commercial vessel traffic following the collapse of the earlier Black Sea Grain Initiative. The port has previously been struck by Russian missiles and drones, with attacks periodically damaging port infrastructure, grain storage facilities, and docked vessels. Details on casualties, structural damage, or the status of vessels in port at the time of the strike were not immediately available. Ukrainian authorities have in the past reported disruptions to loading operations and temporary halts in shipping activity following similar attacks on Black Sea port facilities. The strike adds to a pattern of repeated Russian attacks on Ukraine's maritime export infrastructure, which Kyiv and international partners have said threatens global food supply chains given Ukraine's role as a major grain exporter. Further official statements from Ukrainian port authorities or military officials were not reported at the time of writing.
