Hijacked Tanker Sibu 1 Released, All Crew Safe

The oil tanker Sibu 1 has been freed after Puntland security forces carried out a 48-hour operation against pirates who seized the vessel off Yemen on August 20. The tanker, carrying 20 crew members, was diverted towards Somalia after six armed men took control of it. Puntland authorities said the operation ended with the pirates arrested following a clash off Mudug. All crew members, including 16 Indians,two Syrians, one Iraqi and one Sudanese national were reported safe.
