Jacuar Grounding Prompts Rescue Response, 18 Crew Safe

On 17 September, the general cargo vessel Jacuar ran aground after suffering water ingress, according to Somalia’s Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport. All 18 crew members were reported safe. The Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged vessel was en route from Nacala, Mozambique, to Adabiya, Egypt, carrying about 7,007.73 tonnes of cargo. Authorities are monitoring the situation and coordinating response operations.
