The 100-metre general cargo vessel was reportedly held as a pirate mothership after its capture in April. The pirates later left the vessel in small boats, allowing the Sward and its crew to be released. All 17 crew members, including 15 Syrians and two Indians, are safe.
A possible ransom payment has been reported by maritime security source, but the claim remains unverified.
