Klondike Express Damaged by Dock Fire in Alaska

A fire broke out at the Whittier cruise dock in Alaska on September 14, damaging the passenger vessel Klondike Express. The fire, reported just before 11 a.m., originated at the dock and affected the vessel with flames, heat and smoke. Emergency crews, including the US Coast Guard, responded, while the Norwegian Jade safely departed the dock. No injuries were reported. A 500-yard safety zone was established, and the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel was temporarily closed before reopening at 2 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, while the Coast Guard is monitoring for possible pollution.
