10 Missing as Cargo Vessel Sinks Following Collision in Marmara Sea

General cargo vessel Tugberk Imamoğlu is believed to have sunk after colliding with the empty tanker Alsu in the Marmara Sea early September 2. All 10 crew members are missing. The collision occurred at around 03:15 local time. Search and rescue operations were launched shortly after authorities lost contact with the vessel. Life-saving equipment, including the free-fall lifeboat, was found at sea, but no crew members have been located. Tugberk Imamoğlu was carrying 4,199 tonnes of coiled steel sheet from İskenderun to Karadeniz Ereğli, while Alsu was sailing without cargo.
