Crane Accident Injures Two at Mumbai Port

The Barbados-flagged bulk carrier VIENNA was involved in a crane accident during a 140-tonne cargo lift at Mumbai Port on 30 August, injuring two crane operators. A sling reportedly came loose, shifting the load and lifting one crane off the ground. Its long extendable arm struck VIENNA before the crane overturned and a fire broke out. The fire was contained by the Mumbai Port Authority Fire Brigade, while the injured operators were hospitalised. The vessel’s damage remains under assessment and an investigation is underway.
