Chemical Tanker Golden Sapling Aground Off Samsun After Drone Strike

The Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker Golden Sapling grounded off Samsun, Turkey, on 30 August after reportedly being targeted by a drone in the Black Sea. The vessel’s 21 crew members were evacuated safely by the tanker Maran Pythia. No injuries were reported. The tanker reportedly drifted in rough weather following the attack before grounding near the Samsun coastline. Salvage teams are assessing the vessel for refloating operations.
