Search Continues for 22 Missing Sailors from Sunk MV Ocean Winner

Eight days after the cargo vessel MV Ocean Winner sank off Paradip, Odisha, search operations for 22 missing sailors remain underway at sea, while authorities questioned two rescued crew members at Paradip to piece together details of the incident. The two surviving sailors were interviewed by officials from the Immigration, Police and Intelligence departments. Two representatives from the Chinese Consulate in Kolkata were also present to assist with language interpretation during the questioning session. During the session, the sailors recounted their experiences from the moment the ship began to sink, accounts that officials say will help reconstruct the sequence of events and inform the ongoing search. Rescue and search teams remain deployed in deep-sea waters off the Odisha coast in an effort to locate the 22 sailors who have not yet been traced. With eight days having elapsed since the sinking, their whereabouts remain unknown, and authorities say they continue to rely on information gathered from the survivors as the search operation proceeds.
