The blaze ignited around 20,000 tonnes of scrap metal carried aboard the vessel. The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service deployed boats, drones and firefighting tugs to tackle the fire, with the tug VB Yorkshireman using its water cannon against the blaze.
The crew were reported safe, and authorities said the fire did not pose an immediate threat to the public.
