Strait of Hormuz Tensions Rise After Missile Attack Kills Seafarer

Tensions rise in the Strait of Hormuz as the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Minoan Dignity was struck by an unknown projectile on 18 August while making an outbound transit, killing the vessel’s chief engineer and damaging the engine-room area. The attack occurred at approximately 01:35 UTC. According to UK Maritime Trade Operations the Omani Coast Guard assisted the remaining crew following the incident. No pollution was reported.
