Grounded Algoma Equinox Returns to Service After Successful Rescue Operation

The bulk carrier Algoma Equinox was refloated on 22 July after running aground on the St. Clair River near Sarnia a day earlier loaded with grain. Refloating operations involved transferring ballast water to the bow while two tugboats pulled the vessel free. The Algoma Equinox resumed its voyage shortly after 2:00 p.m. local time. No injuries, pollution, water ingress, or significant damage were reported. Authorities are investigating the cause of the grounding.
