Three Injured as Romanian Rescuers Evacuate Crew from Drone-Hit LPG Tanker

All 17 crew members were rescued after the LPG tanker Gas Lisbon caught fire following a suspected drone strike in Romania's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Black Sea, authorities said. The tanker, carrying more than 3,790 tonnes of propane from Alexandria, Egypt, to Reni, Ukraine, was struck southeast of Sfântu Gheorghe, triggering a fire in the superstructure. Rescue vessels SAR Apollo, SAR Artemis, and the Romanian Coast Guard evacuated the crew. Three seafarers were injured, including two with burns, and were taken to hospital. The vessel remains anchored with the fire still active. Authorities have established a three-nautical-mile safety zone around the tanker and deployed a tug to prevent it from drifting. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
