Another Crude Oil Tanker Hit Off Oman Following Recent Strait of Hormuz Attacks

A Kuwait-flagged tanker was attacked off the coast of Oman on 20 July, forcing its crew to abandon the vessel after it was struck by an unknown projectile, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The attack occurred about eight nautical miles northeast of Limah, Oman. The vessel transmitted a distress call at 20:10 UTC before the crew evacuated into a lifeboat. No casualties or environmental damage have been reported. The tanker was identified as the Kaifan, a 2014-built, 46,327-dwt oil and chemical tanker operated by Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC). Authorities are investigating the incident.
