Grain Carrier Hit by Russian Missiles Off Ukraine, 10 Crewmembers Killed

A civilian grain carrier was struck by three Russian cruise missiles in the Black Sea on 19 July, killing 10 people, including a Ukrainian maritime pilot, according to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA). The Golden Leo caught fire after the missiles hit its starboard side while departing Ukraine's maritime corridor. Eight people were rescued. Ukraine's Navy said the vessel carried a 17-member crew comprising Indian and Syrian nationals. Russia had not commented on the reported strike.
