Filipino Crew Member Saved After Drone Attack on Merchant Vessel in Black Sea

A Filipino crew member was rescued by Ukraine's Maritime Border Guard after spending nearly 24 hours adrift in the Black Sea following a Russian drone attack on the dry cargo vessel Venturo on 17 July. The Ukrainian Navy to rescued most of the crew but the ship's Filipino electrical engineer remained stranded alone in a lifeboat. Ukraine's 26th Maritime Border Guard Detachment located the survivor on 18 July and safely brought him ashore despite the threat of further drone attacks. The seafarer was reported to be in satisfactory condition and did not require medical treatment.
