TotalEnergies Launches New LNG Route from Mexico to Asia

TotalEnergies has initiated a new LNG shipping route from Mexico to Asia that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz and the Panama Canal. The first cargo was dispatched from Mexico’s ECA terminal, utilizing natural gas sourced from the U.S. Permian Basin. The gas is piped to the Pacific side of Mexico, where it is liquefied before shipment. This route offers an alternative path for LNG exports, reducing transit risks associated with traditional chokepoints.
