Ferry Grounds Off Milos After Propulsion Failure

The Ro-Ro passenger ferry Kissamos temporarily grounded off Milos, Greece, on June 27 after a technical fault caused a loss of propulsion during its scheduled voyage from Piraeus to Chania. The vessel was carrying 1,246 passengers and 108 crew members. After drifting into shallow waters, the ferry grounded near the port before the crew restored power. A subsequent underwater inspection by the Hellenic Coast Guard found no hull damage, allowing the vessel to refloat under its own power and return safely to Milos. No injuries or pollution were reported. Following seaworthiness checks and an investigation into the power failure, the Kissamos will be cleared to continue its voyage.
