Engine Failure and Funnel Fire Disable Ro-Ro Vessel in North Sea

The Finland-flagged Ro-Ro cargo vessel Norstream suffered an engine failure and a funnel fire while sailing from Rotterdam to Tilbury on 23 June, leaving the vessel disabled in the southern North Sea. No injuries were reported. A turbocharger failure disabled one of the vessel's main engines before a fire broke out in the funnel. The vessel subsequently anchored about 10 nautical miles north of Margate while awaiting tug assistance. The Norstream was towed to Tilbury, arriving at around 10:30 a.m. on 25 June, and is expected to resume service following repairs.
