Coal Barge Sinks Off West Java, All 16 Crew Rescued

The barge was carrying 10,000 tonnes of coal from Lampung to Cilacap with 16 crew members on board. As the vessel developed a starboard list and its condition deteriorated despite repair efforts, the crew abandoned ship and were rescued by the fishing vessel Dede Putra. The barge reportedly sank at about 1400 local time. All crew members were declared healthy following medical examinations. Authorities are investigating the incident and monitoring the area for potential pollution from fuel leakage and the coal cargo.
