New Shipyard Planned at Kochi's Willingdon Island

A new shipyard is planned at Willingdon Island in Kochi through a joint initiative involving ECHT Marine, Artson (a Tata Enterprise), and Malabar Cements. The facility will focus on building vessels of up to 100 tonnes to support India's growing inland waterways sector. This project aims to boost inland water transport, shipbuilding, and marine services while aligning with the Make in India vision. Kochi continues to strengthen its maritime ecosystem with ongoing investments in maritime infrastructure, Water Metro expansion, and port-led development. These efforts reinforce Kochi's position as an emerging maritime hub in India.
