All Crew Safe After Cargo Vessel Undertakes Emergency Beaching in Philippines

All 15 crew members of the cargo vessel MSCI 1 were rescued after the vessel conducted an emergency beaching off Badoc, Philippines, on 8 June. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) received a report of the incident at around 6:20 a.m. local time and responded with assistance. *Image credit:PCG* The vessel, carrying gravel and bound for Calayan Island, encounter rough weather and was forced ashore after water entered its ballast tanks. This caused the vessel list and prompting an emergency response from PCG for assistance. PCG along evacuated the crewmembers with no injuries reported. The authorities continue to coordinate refloating operations and environmental protection measures.
