U.S. Forces Disable VLCC Lexie in Arabian Gulf

The crude oil tanker Lexie was disabled by the U.S. military on 2 June after U.S. aircraft struck its engine room with a Hellfire missile. The incident occurred while the tanker sailing through the Arabian Gulf ignored multiple warnings issued by the US forces to the crew over a 24-hour period. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the VLCC was bound for Iran's Kharg Island when it became disabled, leaving the vessel unable to continue its voyage.
