DryDel Expands Japanese Newbuilding Program with Three Vessels

DryDel has signed agreements for three additional dry bulk vessels at leading Japanese shipyards, further expanding its newbuilding program. The orders include one 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax at Shin Kurushima Shipyard, expected for delivery in 2028, and two 64,000 DWT Ultramax vessels at Nihon Shipyard (Imabari) and Oshima Shipyard, scheduled for delivery in 2029 and 2030 respectively. All vessels will comply with Tier III / Phase 3 emissions standards and feature next-generation eco designs aimed at fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Since 2021, DryDel has placed over 20 newbuilding orders exclusively with Japanese yards, with 10 vessels delivered in the past two years. The company’s forward newbuilding program now includes 11 vessels with a combined capacity exceeding 1.2 million tons. CEO Costas Delaportas emphasized the company’s commitment to quality Japanese shipbuilding and long-term fleet competitiveness.
