Chowgule Shipyard Launches First Export Vessel from Mangalore

Chowgule Shipyard's Mangalore facility has achieved a key milestone with the successful sea trials of FRISIAN FUTURE, the first vessel built for Boomsma Shipping, Netherlands. This 8,500 DWT general cargo vessel, flagged in the Netherlands, features diesel-electric propulsion and meets stringent global standards, including classification by Lloyd’s Register and compliance with IMO Conventions, SOLAS, MARPOL, and IMO Tier III environmental norms. The shipyard, spread over 50 acres, has been developed into a modern, export-oriented hub, generating over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and bolstering the local industrial ecosystem. FRISIAN FUTURE represents the first export delivery from the Mangalore yard, marking a significant advancement for Indian shipbuilding. This development underscores India's growing capabilities in sustainable and high-standard maritime manufacturing.
