Search Intensifies for Missing Vessel Mariana After Capsize in Western Pacific

The United States Coast Guard has continued its search for six missing crew members after the U.S.-flagged cargo vessel Mariana capsized in the western Pacific amid severe weather.

The vessel had reported a starboard engine failure approximately 140 nautical miles north-northwest of Saipan before contact was lost on Wednesday evening. An initial search attempt the following day was aborted due to heavy winds.

On Saturday, an overturned hull was located approximately 34 nautical miles northeast of Pagan, around 100 nautical miles from its last known position, and confirmed as Mariana.

The operation now involves the United States Coast Guard, U.S. Navy aircraft, the Japan Coast Guard, and supporting surface units, as efforts continue to locate the missing crew.
