Mississippi River Collision Leaves Vessels Entangled, Bulker Aground

Two vessels AFRICAN BUZZARD and PAC DUBHE collided on the Mississippi River near mile marker 124.5, leaving them entangled and one aground on 23 March.The impact resulted in AFRICAN BUZZARD’s anchor becoming lodged in the bow of PAC DUBHE, with the bulk carrier subsequently drifting out of the channel and grounding. Tugboats have been deployed, and salvage plans are being prepared.The United States Coast Guard said the river remains open under speed restrictions, while a joint investigation with the National Transportation Safety Board is underway. No injiries or pollution reported.
