Royal Caribbean Proposes Floating Dry Dock Facility in Panama

Royal Caribbean Group has presented a proposal to the Panamanian government to construct a large floating dry dock at Puerto Armuelles, on Panama's Pacific coast. The planned facility, approximately 400 meters long, would be capable of servicing cruise ships and other large vessels up to 130,000 tons. The project, discussed in a meeting with President José Raúl Mulino, is designed to reduce reliance on Asian shipyards for repairs and maintenance, and will prioritize low emissions and responsible wastewater management. The phased development is expected to take place between 2026 and 2031, aiming to strengthen Panama’s position in global maritime services.
