HD Hyundai Partners with Tamil Nadu Government to Establish New Shipyard in India

South Korean shipbuilding giant HD Hyundai has entered a comprehensive partnership with the Tamil Nadu state government to build a new shipyard in India. This move aligns with India's 'Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047,' which aims to place the country among the world's top five shipbuilding and shipping nations. Tamil Nadu, one of five shortlisted states, has aggressively pursued the project by offering incentives and infrastructure improvements and has chosen HD Hyundai as its partner. The Thoothukudi region is highlighted as a prime location for the facility, benefiting from favorable conditions and proximity to other major Korean companies. Additionally, HD Hyundai recently signed an MoU with Indian state-owned company BEML to develop maritime and port crane manufacturing capabilities, signaling further investment and collaboration in India's maritime sector.
