Engine Room Fire Contained Aboard Diezeborg in Baltic Sea

A fire erupted in the engine room of the Dutch-flagged cargo vessel Diezeborg on 14 February in the Baltic Sea, northwest of Gotska Sandön, Sweden. The 133 meter-long-vessel, loaded with a cargo of zinc concentrate, was left adrift after the outbreak. The crew activated the onboard firefighting system and brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported among the nine crew members. Swedish Coast Guard units responded, and on 15 February the patrol vessel KBV 002 Triton towed the ship away from Kopparstenarna to prevent grounding. The situation is reported to be stable, with the crew remaining on board.
