Tanker Mersin Floods Near Dakar Coast, All Crew Rescued

The tanker Mersin experienced an onboard flooding incident near the coast of Dakar, Senegal, during the night of 27–28 November, when water entered its engine room. The vessel immediately issued a distress call, triggering emergency response efforts.

Senegalese maritime authorities swiftly mobilised tugboats and specialised teams to manage the situation and address the risk of an oil spill. Anti-pollution booms were deployed, and fuel-transfer operations were initiated to stabilise the vessel and prevent environmental damage. All crew members were safely rescued following the incident.
