How the PSC Score works

The TrustedDocks PSC Score (0–100) is a weighted composite of seven Port State Control KPIs: deficiencies per inspection (25%), detention rate (25%), SMS deficiency rate, predicted deficiency index and three deficiency-domain indices — human factors & crewing, regulatory & operational compliance, and ship structure & equipment (10% each). Every KPI is normalized against the entity's true peer group — same segment, size class and age band — over a rolling 12-month window, so a 15-year-old Handysize bulker is never compared to a new VLCC. 50 means exactly at the peer benchmark; 100 means a spotless record.

Tiers: A 80–100 · B 60–80 · C 40–60 · D 20–40 · E 0–20. Ships need at least 2 inspections in the window for a tier. For ports the reading flips: a LOW score marks a challenging, strict port. Source: official inspection records of the Paris, Tokyo, Mediterranean, Black Sea, Indian Ocean and Abuja MOUs. Detainable findings are severity-weighted 10× in the domain indices.
