DGA Marine Engines

DGA, a German manufacturer, traces its origins to the 1892 founding of Auergesellschaft in Berlin. Initially involved in diverse industrial activities including gas mantles, rare earths, and radioactivity, the company was acquired by Degussa in 1934. By 1939, their Oranienburg plant focused on high-purity uranium oxide production. Today, DGA marine engines are found on 126 vessels in service, spanning five distinct models. General cargo ships account for 116 installations, with bulk carriers making up 10. The East Mediterranean & Black Sea region hosts 52 DGA-powered vessels, followed by the Caspian Sea (22) and the Baltic Sea (11). The DGA - 50 is the most prevalent model, powering 78 vessels, while the DGA - 100-750 and DGA - 50M-9P each appear on 24.
