Dole Colombia Suffers Engine Room Fire at US Port

The Bahamas-flagged reefer Dole Colombia, carrying bananas, suffered an engine room fire while berthed at Port of Wilmington, Delaware, on 10 August. All crew members were safe and no injuries were reported. The fire started in a generator, prompting the crew to seal the engine room and activate the vessel’s fixed firefighting system. Firefighters monitored the space and boundary temperatures before bringing the response under control.
