Two Merchant Ships Towed to Safety Following Machinery Failures in Türkiye

Two merchant vessels suffered separate propulsion failures in Turkish waters were brought to safety on 6 August after intervention by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM). Both operations were completed without injuries, vessel damage, or pollution. The cargo vessel Ocean Mary lost propulsion in the Sea of Marmara while en route from Yalova to Aliağa and was escorted to the Doğanarslan Anchorage. In a separate operation, the ballast tanker Regal 1, sailing from Egypt to Russia, was towed from the Çanakkale Strait to the Şevketiye Anchorage after suffering a machinery failure.
