Search Continues for 17 Missing After Vietnamese Cargo Vessel Sinks

Search efforts are continuing for 17 missing people after the Vietnamese cargo vessel Khoi Nguyen 18 sank in the South China Sea while operating in bad weather. The vessel was carrying 62 people when it sent a distress signal on 25 July before sinking. Vietnamese and Chinese search-and-rescue teams, supported by nearby vessels and helicopters, had rescued 45 survivors by 26 July. Vietnamese authorities said rescue operations remain underway, with both countries continuing coordinated efforts to locate the missing.
