U.S. Marines Board Tanker During Iran Blockade Enforcement

U.S. Marines from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded the commercial tanker M/T Wen Yao in the Gulf of Oman on July 16 as part of operations enforcing the U.S. naval blockade against Iran. The U.S. military said it has redirected three commercial vessels, disabled one that failed to comply, and boarded another to verify compliance with the blockade. It added that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to lawful commercial shipping.
