CSL started offering ship repair services in 1982 and has undertaken upgrades and repairs for all types of ships including ships for the oil exploration industry. CSL has very rich experience in ship repair front and has successfully completed more than 2500 ship repair projects so far of clients from Defense and Commercial sectors. CSL has been closely associating with Indian Navy for undertaking refits and maintenance of their fleet since commencement of ship repairs. CSL is the only yard in India capable of undertaking dry dock repairs of Aircraft carriers owned by Indian Navy.CSL has successfully completed refits of INS Viraat,INS Vikramaditya & INS Vikrant. Apart from repairs/ refits, CSL has also undertaken upgradation of ships of oil exploration industry as well as periodical maintenance, life extension etc.more

The Company was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 1st May, 1992 under the Companies Act, 1956 and obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 30th June, 1992.
Its main objectives are the setting up Ship Repair facilities for Ocean Going Vessels, Ship Building and Ship building facilities in the private sector in India.
The Company is registered as a “Ship Repair Unit (SRU)” since 12th November, 1993 with Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping and Surface Transport, Government of India by virtue of which the Company is entitled to the use of duty free imported and indigenous capital goods, material handling equipment, raw materials, spares and consumables for its project.
ABG Shipyard ltd has become a Promoter Company of Western India Shipyard ltd and WISL is a member of the ABG Group of Companies.more
