Damen Yichang Shipyard was founded in 1998 by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and Yichang Shipyard. The yard specialises in building combi-freighter cargo vessels from 8,000 to 15,000 dwt – working with Damen’s proven designs to guarantee quality, reliability and fast delivery times. On an annual basis, the yard consumes some 50,000 tonnes of steel – typically building between nine and twelve vessels a year for the export market. Located on the Yangtze River, Damen Yichang Shipyard is equipped with nine berths and a large transfer slipway. The yard has extensive on-site steel and piping facilities, as well as blasting and painting shops. Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd is a member of the DSIC Group, following a merger in 2019. Opened in 2001, the Bohai Shipyard is based in Huludao, a former military port on the southwest coast of Liaoning Province, 50km east of Jinzhou Airport and with Qinhuangdao Airport 20km to the west. The shipyard focuses on newbuilding projects, and also has the capability to carry out ship repairs and fabricate other large steel structures.
