Oman’s Asyad Shipping is reportedly the company behind the recent order for four Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) from Hanwha Ocean, according to multiple broker reports. The South Korean shipbuilder disclosed the deal, valued at approximately $520 million, with deliveries scheduled for 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. Asyad Shipping, a prominent player in the maritime industry, currently owns a fleet of over 40 vessels, including around 10 VLCCs, predominantly constructed in South Korea.

Last month, brokers identified Asyad Shipping as the likely candidate for two 320,000 deadweight ton (dwt) scrubber-fitted VLCC berths at Hanwha Ocean, each priced at approximately $128 million. As part of Oman’s state-controlled Asyad Group, the shipping division has also invested in the construction of LNG carriers in South Korea. In a strategic move, the Asyad Group is reportedly planning to publicly list its shipping arm by the end of the year, marking a significant step in the company's expansion and growth strategy. The anticipated IPO reflects Asyad’s ambitions to enhance its market presence and capitalize on the global maritime industry’s evolving dynamics.
