Entering Port Latta: A Nautical Guide


Approaching Port Latta


As you approach Port Latta, keep a lookout for the distinctive red and white striped lighthouse that marks the entrance to the harbor. The lighthouse is located on the eastern side of the harbor and is visible from several miles away.

Navigating the Harbor Entrance


Once you have spotted the lighthouse, steer your vessel towards the harbor entrance. The entrance is marked by two green buoys on the port side and two red buoys on the starboard side. Keep the green buoys to your left and the red buoys to your right as you enter the harbor.

Entering Port Latta


As you enter Port Latta, you will see the main wharf on your port side. This is where you can tie up your vessel and begin your visit to the port. The wharf is equipped with mooring bollards and cleats, so be sure to secure your vessel properly.

Exiting Port Latta


When its time to leave Port Latta, simply reverse the process. Head towards the harbor entrance, keeping the green buoys to your left and the red buoys to your right. Once you have cleared the entrance, you can set your course for your next destination.
Remember to always follow the rules of the road and keep a sharp lookout for other vessels in the harbor. With these tips, you can safely and confidently navigate your way into and out of Port Latta.
